As a volunteer, there are many options for volunteer service activities: hold a hand, talk about life experiences, computer things, plan a golf tournament, address envelopes, feed a pet, make a speech, bake a cake, clean a house, listen to cherished memories, pat a shoulder, give a hug, touch a heart, change a life (more than likely your own). Volunteer assignments are thoroughly discussed and planned with each volunteer, ensuring the right fit for the volunteer and Transitions Lifecare. Assignments are dynamic and can change with needs, as well as the desires of the volunteer and TLC. The goal is to place the right volunteer into the right assignment, so that the volunteering experience is both gratifying and appreciated, resulting in a positive value for this community.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, below are just a few of the volunteer opportunities throughout Tulsa and the surrounding area with TLC:
Patient and family support
We Honor Veterans Companion
No One Dies Alone (NODA) Companion
Community information and outreach
Special events and assignments
…and much, much more
In addition, we encourage Veteran-to-veteran volunteers for our Veteran patients and families. Though you do not need to be a Veteran to be a volunteer for a Veteran patient and family, our involvement in caring for our heroic Veteran population is something we take very seriously. We encourage all potential volunteers to research caring for veterans at the end of life by visiting WeHonorVeterans.org (WHV) for additional information and resources, to help with your decision to become a volunteer with Veterans. Our WHV campaign is included in all new volunteer orientation and training.
