Have a passion for gardening? yoga? STEM? Theater? The Arts? The great outdoors? Camp Fire is looking for energetic, creative, caring adults to serve as after school club leaders who want to bring their passions to a group of young people a couple of hours a week. Camp Fire clubs offer quality programming to youth in over 20 of the most undeserved schools in the Tulsa area. Camp Fire has a strong commitment to inclusiveness and the belief that ALL children, regardless of their families’ socio-economic circumstances or other marginalizing factors, deserve the opportunity to participate in and benefit from quality youth development experiences. Clubs include 10-12 young people and are divided by age group: Little Stars clubs (Pre-K), Star flight clubs (K-2nd grade) and Adventure clubs (3rd-5th grade). For a couple of hours a week, spend time sharing your passion with a group of young people who might not have the opportunity otherwise.
Skills Required for the position: High level of professionalism, creativity, energy, organization, self-motivation, empathy and patience; education/experience in youth development a plus; culturally competent and responsive with a strong understanding of and/or willingness to learn about diverse cultures and communities; Spanish fluency a plus; valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance; ability to commit to one full school year;
Time spent is approximately 5 hours per club, per week (includes club meeting time as well as well as time spent planning and preparing). Leader positions are available for leading from as little as 1 club a week to as many 4 clubs a week depending on interest, experience and availability.
****This position qualifies for Community Service Work Study. If you qualify for work study through your financial aid package you may choose a Community Service Work Study position. CSWS positions have a starting pay of $9/hr.
